10. Status check/Collection of OCI cards:

A. OCI Bill of fare FOR PIO CARD HOLDERS

B. OVERSEAS CITIZENSHIP OF India (OCI) CARD(FRESH APPLICAIONS)

1.Eligibility

A foreign national, who was eligible to become a citizen of India on 26.01.1950 or was a citizen of India on or at whatsoever time after 26.01.1950 or belonged to a territory that became part of India after 15.08.1947 and his/her children and grandchildren, is eligible for registration equally an Overseas Citizen of India (OCI). Small children of such person are also eligible for OCI. Withal, no person, who or either of whose parents or grandparents or great grandparents is or had been a denizen of Pakistan, Bangladesh shall exist eligible for registration as an Overseas Citizen of India Cardholder.

Benefits to OCI:

• Multiple-entry, multi-purpose life-long visa to visit Republic of india;
• Exemption from reporting to Police authorities for any length of stay in India;
• Parity with NRIs in financial, economic and educational fields except in the conquering of agricultural or plantation properties;
• A person registered as OCI is eligible to use for grant of Indian citizenship nether section five(1) (g) of the Citizenship Act, 1955 if he/she is registered as OCI for 5 years and has been residing in India for 1 year out of the 5 years before making the application;
• Whatever other benefits to OCI which may exist notified by the Ministry building of Overseas Indian Diplomacy (MOIA) under Section 7B (1) of the Citizenship Deed, 1955.

Benefits to which OCI is not entitled:

• The OCI menu holder is not entitled to vote;
• Cannot be a member of Legislative Assembly or Legislative Council or Parliament;
• He/she cannot concord constitutional posts such as President, Vice President, Guess of Supreme Court or High Court etc;
• Cannot normally hold employment in the Authorities.

 Afterward, a print out of the filled up OCI application class with photograph and signatures in the box, should be taken and submitted at the Embassy counter. Delight select your category and apply appropriately.

a) IF APPLYING ON THE Ground OF SELF-INDIAN ORIGIN PROOF : Please upload and adhere with application form, post-obit documents:

If the certificate is issued in India, should exist attested by Ministry building of External Diplomacy, Republic of india In case the nativity certificate is issued by a foreign authority, information technology is to be Apostilled or endorsed by the concerned Indian Mission away." Only attested copy should be uploaded.

c) IF APPLYING ON THE Ground OF Grandad/GRANDMOTHER : Delight upload and attach with application following documents

i) Self attested re-create of present valid passport with validity of minimum vi months at the time of submission of awarding.

ii) OCI Menu/ PIO card of grandmother or granddad along with the base of operations papers/ documents upon which the OCI/ PIO card was issued to grandparents; OR

 Cocky-attested copies of Indian passport of grandparents(grandmother or grandfather) OR

   Any other proof substantiating the request.  Usually applicants are able to submit a document of residence or identify of nascence of grandparents from Commencement Class Magistrate/District Magistrate (DM) of the concerned place.

iii)  Show of relationship: "Birth Certificate" issued from competent authorization mentioning both parents' name and birth document of parents showing grandparents name.If nativity document is issued by Indonesian Authorities it should be attested by Ministry building of Strange Affairs, Republic of indonesia (Kemlu) along with attested English translation. If the certificate is issued in India, should be attested past Ministry of External Diplomacy, India In example the birth document is issued by a foreign authority, it is to be Apostilled or endorsed by the concerned Indian Mission away." c). IN Example OF MINOR CHILD WHOSE BOTH PARENTS ARE CITIZENS OF Republic of india OR 1 OF THE PARENTS IS A Citizen OF Republic of india –

(i) Copy of child's birth certificate. If birth document is issued by Indonesian Authorities it should be attested past Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Indonesia (Kemlu) along with attested English language translation. If the certificate is issued in India, should be attested by Ministry building of External Affairs, India. In case the nascency certificate is issued past a foreign authorisation, it is to be Apostled or endorsed by the concerned Indian Mission away. Only attested copy should be uploaded

(ii) Copy of Indian passport of the parents / ane of the parents OR

copy of the Habitation Certificate or Nascence Document issued past the Competent Say-so in respect of the parents/ i of  the parents or whatsoever other proof substantiating the status of the

parents/ one of the parents as being Indian denizen(s)

(iii) If the parents are divorced, court club of dissolution of marriage, which specifically mentions that the legal custody of the kid is with the parent who is applying for the OCI card.

four) Proof of present citizenship–Cocky attested copy of present valid passport with validity of minimum half dozen months at the time of submission of application.

d) IF APPLYING ON THE BASIS OF  INDIAN NATIONAL SPOUSE OR INDIAN ORIGIN OF SPOUSE: Please upload and attach with application post-obit documents:

i) Cocky attested copy of nowadays valid passport with validity of minimum six months at the time of submission of awarding.

ii) OCI Card/ PIO card of spouse forth with Indian the base papers upon which the OCI/ PIO card was issued to spouse; OR

Self attested copies of Indian passport of spouse OR

With a view to avoid inconvenience to OCI cardholders who may be required to go their OCI cards re-issued due to issuance of a new passport, Ministry of Dwelling Affairs vide society dated 22.03.2021 had granted extension of time till 31.12.2021 to all eligible foreigners to get their OCI cards re-issued, if and then required. Such OCI cardholders will be allowed to travel to / from India on the strength of their existing OCI cards bearing old passport number along with the new passport.Further, Cardinal Government vide orders dated sixteen.04.2021 has now dispensed with the requirement to re-issue an OCI card each time a new passport is issued to a foreigner up to 20 years of age and once afterward completing 50 years of historic period. Re-issue of OCI card will now be required simply once i.e. when a new passport is issued afterwards completing xx years of historic period. However, OCI cardholder will exist required to upload a copy of the new passport containing the photo and as well a latest photo on the online system each time a new passport is issued up to twenty years of historic period and in one case after completing 50 years of historic period. Further, those who have been registered as OCI cardholder as spouse of foreign origin of a citizen of India or spouse of foreign origin of an OCI cardholder will be required to upload a re-create of the new passport containing the photo and too a latest photo on the online system each time a new passport is issued, along with a declaration signed by the OCI cardholder and his/ her Indian spouse or OCI cardholder spouse to the effect that their marriage is still subsisting.

• In case an OCI carte holder below the historic period of xx years has not got the OCI card re-issued on change of passport, he/she may travel on the strength of his/her existing OCI card bearing old passport number subject to the condition that along with the new passport, the OCI cardholder carries old passport mentioned in the OCI card.
• In case an OCI carte holder who has attained the age of l years and has got his/her passport renewed subsequently just has not got his/her OCI bill of fare re-issued on renewal of his/her passport, he/she may travel on the strength of the existing OCI carte du jour forth with the old and new passports.
• It is, however, advised that OCI cardholders may have steps to comply with the existing OCI guidelines in Para 1 higher up and renew their OCI cards as required past the rules.
